multiple Congenital Anomalies In Infant Born to Mother with Type II Overt Diabetes Mellitus -A Case Report-

Abstract
The incidence of congenital anomalies in the general population is reported as being between 0.54~6.8%, and two-to three-fold higher (6.6~11.4%) in diabetic pregnancy. But the incidence of severely malformed anomalies which is life-threatening or
requires surgical intervention is seven- to ten-fole higher than in normal pregnancy. The incidence of holoprosencephaly was very rare, but in diabetic pregnancy it is reported much higher than nondiabetic pregnancy. We experienced a case of
multiple
congenital anomalies in pregnancy associated with type II overt diabetes mellitus (White classification, class B) and therefore we present it with a brief review of literature.
